In 2007 the DEP announced three major rule proposals that had a significant impact on the large scale development proposed for the iconic Meadowlands.  This included revised Water Quality Management Planning Rules, Category One Waterbody Rules, and Soil Remediation Standards.  We engaged with the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority in a Soil Remediation Contract removing over 10,000 tons of soil to accommodate the new standards released May 2007.

Mosholu Monte-Fiori Hospital
In existence for over a century, Moshulu Monte-Fiore Hospital has been a recognized establishment founded in the heart of the Bronx, expanding its healthcare presence to over 2 million individuals on a nationwide basis.  In 2004, Landmark began their initial stage of investigation for an oil leak at the base of an elevator shaft to be erected.  Landmark continued the project conducting a phase II site investigation.  They determined the type of oil, and proposed a Phase III Excavation to dig deep below the surface, create an underpinning, remediation of eight feet of soil and build a watertight sub basement.  They then finished by overlaying a slab of concrete over the reedited soil to seal any potential leakage and prevent any exposure to hazardous materials by construction workers or building occupants.

Columbia University
Columbia University, founded in 1754, remains the oldest institution of higher learning in the state of New York; the fifth oldest in the United States. Expanding its campus, Felix Associates was responsible for all of the underground utilities that are going to service the new complex known as Columbia Manhattanville. This mini city within Columbia University includes housing, classrooms and stores.  As the initial digging phase begins, soil contaminated with metals, petroleum constituents and other non hazardous contaminants is generated and needs to be covered at all times so it does not affect its surroundings.  Landmark was engaged to responsibly manage the soil, continue testing to prevent cross contamination and locate and proceed withthe removal and recycling of the soil at an appropriate facility.  This long term contract is expected to expand into further capacities in the coming future.
